Deedee Cheriel
Deedee Cheriel’s paitings are about life, in particular human connection to the world and the ways we communicate with it. Her work is inspired by temple art from her native India and her extensive travels around the world. Mixing iconography, symbolism and mysticism together with her observations of human life and emotions she creates a vibrant visual platform, transforming these elements into narratives for all.
Her creations have an intense antediluvian feel, with overtones of ancient Egypt, Folk art and cultural heritage and yet are contemporary in context. Symbolic animals, animalistic humans, colour and pattern are used to portray a myriad of emotions and social interactions between people.
The work is boldly colourful and brimming with allegorical notes of yearning passion, angry resistance, loving empathy and uncomfortable discomposure. It’s a visualisation of universal feelings and conflicting affiliations with the modern world that ‘inevitably confirm our greater humanity and quest towards love.’ To enquire about Deedee's paintings we have for sale go to our contact page.
